Usage Scenarios

Once all your setup has been done against the dimension values, everytime you then choose the dimension the other Linked dimensions will also be defaulted.

General Journal

Ensure you have selected to see all columns in your general journal. This will add all your dimensions as columns on the right hand side of the page.

Complete the journal line and then enter in your dimension value that has linked Dimensions:

The linked dimensions will be defaulted to the other dimensions:

Alternatively you can select Line / Dimensions and enter the dimension value there:

Purchase or Sales Document

Complete the purchase or sales document line. Enter the dimension value to default the linked dimensions.

If you can't see the dimension as a column you can select Line / Related Information / Dimensions to enter the dimension there.

G/L Budget

When you import a budget from excel and include a Dimension that has linked dimensions attached these will be applied when the G/L Budget entry is created in Business Central.
In the example below the entries in excel are created with the Project dimension only:

When you have imported the budget into Business Central the G/L Budget Entries will have all dimensions that were linked to the Project.

Note

If you specify other linked dimensions in the spreadsheet and these are different form the linked dimensions they will be overwritten.
